WWE Raw takeaways: Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair retain, Bron Breakker beats LA Knight

Wrestling Junkie
WWE Monday Night Raw took place at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., and featured a women’s tag team championship match between Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
This week’s episode hyped up Saturday Night’s Main Event throughout with promos and new match announcements. We saw Roxanne Perez pick up a win over Nikki Bella and JD McDonagh pin Sheamus (with help from Finn Balor).
Here’s the top takeaways from this week’s episode:
Jey Uso, CM Punk face off
Kicking off the show was Jey Uso yeeting his way to the ring with the World Heavyweight Championship sitting on a pedestal. Uso said he doesn’t care what anyone, including family, thinks about him right now as he attempts to reclaim the title.

Enter CM Punk, who not only cut off Uso’s tag line, but ran back his entrance theme too. At least he apologized for stealing the gimmick.
Punk said he was happy for Uso for finally listening to himself instead of other voices, but then questioned how far he’s willing to go to reclaim the title. Of course, Punk wants to wear gold again too, so it’s about who will be willing to go further, and Uso can’t "yeet his way out" of this match. Uso believes Punk will try to flip the script and later make him out to be the bad guy.
"Screw you, Punk," Uso said, before hitting his tagline and spiking the mic into the canvas.
Penta vs. Rusev No. 1 contender match leads to triple threat
No. 1 contender status was on the line for Dominik Mysterio's Intercontinental Championship when Penta and Rusev squared off.
The two put on a fun match with some great spots. However, considering all of the parties looming over this match, there's no way it was going to finish clean. Sure enough, the Americanos popped up just when this match was really, really cooking to cause a double disqualification, and therefore leaving Mysterio without a No. 1 contender.
We'll see what kind of shenanigans come out of that triple threat match, but hopefully they're all from Mysterio, and Mysterio alone. Let him cook up the most Eddie Guerrero-like finish of all time to retain the title, with help from nobody else.
WWE fires shots back at Goldberg?
On a recent podcast, Goldberg said he was frustrated with WWE for his retirement, but also for their decision to have Asuka break his undefeated streak.
AD
Only Goldberg didn't refer to Asuka by her name, he called her "some girl."
Asuka already offered her own direct response on X (formerly Twitter), but it seems WWE went to bat for her as well, as they put together a phenomenal package of career highlights, which may or may not have been prompted by Goldberg's comments.
Judge for yourself, but check out the video, because Asuka is and has always been incredible.
Bron Breakker pins LA Knight
Bron Breakker wants to get himself in position to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Paul Heyman came through with the assist by getting him a match against LA Knight.
Breakker seemed like he knew he would walk through Knight, and for the most part, he did just that. Knight had his moments, but also had to keep Heyman and Bronson Reed in the back of his mind, as they watched closely from ringside.
This was one of the better matches of the show, and probably would have main-evented any other Raw, considering the names involved. Breakker got what he wanted in a big win over Knight. Now he'll be watching Jey Uso vs. CM Punk very closely. It wouldn't be a shock to see him involved in the outcome.
Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair retain women’s tag titles
The main event of this week’s show was a women’s tag team championship match between Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
Valkyria started off hot against Flair going into the first commercial break. Of course, three minutes later, we see Bliss in the ring, getting worked by Valkyria. A hot tag to Flair got things back on track for the champs.
Bayley found her own momentum-shifting tag, and hit Flair with a Bayley to Belly. A moment later though, Bliss intercepted Valkyria with Sister Abigail. The crowd was fully into the match at this point, chanting their appreciation.
The match hit its final gear and things came to an end with a double Natural Selection.
After the match, the Kabuki Warriors attacked everyone. The beatdown lasted until Bayley returned to the ring to protect Valkyria.
This was a solid championship tag match to close the show. With Asuka and Kairi Sane popping up in backstage segments throughout the show, declaring their worthiness for a title shot, it only made sense that they attacked. Thankfully, it came after the pin, so we didn’t have Raw end on a DQ, as has happened so many times this year. In the bigger picture, it's nice to see a focus on the tag titles.
