This is a video about a short low level transonic dash. At very low altitudes the dynamic pressures are at its maximum.
These flights are performed for testing and training requirements, in restricted areas during active notams.
This is a common environment where external stores, probes, sensor get tested.
This specific run is at transonic speeds, however speeds up to Mach 1.18 can be reached on the F-104 at sea level.
When moisture is present (specially above sea water), shockwaves are most visible.
