In today's video I am talking about Chypre style fragrances, focusing particularly on Parfum MDCI's "Chypre Palatin", created by master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. At its core, Chypre Palatin has the makings of a chypre utlizing the notes of clemetine, labdanum and oak moss but this fragrance does so much more. A complex blend of notes that starts off aldehydic, floral, and green this fragrance is met with a heart of floral notes combined with plum. All of this sits on the wonderful, earthy and damp facets of oak moss. In the dry down Chypre Palatin turns into a mossy, ambery, slightly woody, fragrance that is both balsamic and resinous. A beautiful, sophisticated fragrance that is a throwback to vintage style chypre fragrances while, at the same time, remaining very current for the true lover of perfume!
