Darma Valley Episode 03 | Exploring life in Dantu Village I Rang community I Pitthoragarh

Dantu Village Is the last village of Darma Valley In the Kumaun region in Dharchula. The population of the village here is much less now at one time more than 50 families used to live in The Dantu Village. People here are called the Rang community (also called the Rung community). The whole village is full of natural beauty. All the houses are made with Thick walls of stone so that in winter time it doesn’t get cold inside. A long time ago when people came here to settle up they were from the Katyuri dynasty so when you look at all the house's doors, windows, and any wooden work it's so beautifully done with handmade carving on the windows and doors. The height of all the houses is not too high because all 12 months here are cold. Village people's lives are also very different than normal people in other villages or in cities because they live here only for 6 months and after 6 months they come down to Dharchula, Didihaat. Pithoragarh etc. It's incredible to live life like this you have to go with your pets also and you walk all the way down and after 6th months again back to their Village. People here speak the Local Bhotiya Language, Kumauni, and Tibetan.

Most of the people from here are in government jobs and in village earning sources mostly agriculture and Homestays. After reaching the road all the way to Dantu village Tourism is a lot than before but still, there is no network here. Government has setup wifi in villages but it also doesn’t work all the time.

The whole Darma Valley itself is like heaven on the earth or you can say it is a different world. This is the fact of Darma Valley once you reach here you forget yourself and the whole world. The Village Dantu is very small but very vast in itself which will create a different dimension in you and after that, you start thinking differently. Village people are so warm-hearted here and welcoming, you will never hear No from their side they go to beyond their abilities to give you the best.
