Paul Smith presented his first-ever runway show in Milan with a collection built on fragments of memory, travel, and tactile storytelling. The setting: his Viale Umbria showroom, once a ball-bearing warehouse, now repurposed for a fashion moment that felt both intimate and expansive.

Inspired by a decades-old souvenir book of tinted Egyptian photographs, rediscovered during an office declutter, the collection translated nostalgia into texture, print, and detail. Crepe shirting printed with fish and florals, cottons reflecting the surface of water, trinkets replacing buttons, and tortoiseshell hotel key fobs clipped to belt loops — each piece carried the mood of found objects and personal history.

Suiting pushed against expectations, with silk-shot linens and heavier mohair blends made to feel unexpected. Knit twinsets subtly echoed Smith’s iconic stripes, while low-profile sneakers and suede outerwear grounded the look in relaxed modernity. The soundtrack, as ever, pulled from unexpected places — upbeat, global, and slightly surreal.
