When it comes to character depth, complexity and maturity, Balthier is a force worth reckoning with in the now recent world of final fantasy. Perhaps, the greatest character in the franchise was already long embedded in final fantasy XII's Universe of Ivalice.

On the topic finding excellence in character depth, complexity, and maturity, Square need not look very far beyond. Balthier is recent history, and, after all, he is much too vibrant, too full of gravitas, confidence and bravura to be missed any time soon. His is a nobility fleeting with time, accelerating with each passing day. Of all the characters Square has awashed over the world, none have played more critical a role in introducing to the world, democratizing, and making more available a language endangered.

It’s a shame, that Square in it’s efforts to bring about another major release, looks towards the shallows for inspiration when perhaps the greatest character in its franchise has long been embedded in Final Fantasy XII's Universe of Ivalice. Let’s welcome more of Balthier, shall we?
