Johnny Allen, familiarly known as 'The Duke' of radio sadly passed away on Wednesday December 6, 2023.

Johnny was more than just a figure in the lives of those who knew him. He was a source of comfort, a source of joy, and a presence that left a lasting impact on the radio scene in New York City. Every word that flowed from his microphone carried not only sound waves, but also waves of emotion that resonated with people from all walks of life.

Known as 'The Duke' of radio, Johnny's impact extended far beyond the airwaves. With a remarkable career spanning over 45 years, he graced the top 50K watt stations of New York FM, including Disco 92 WKTU, WBLS, 98.7 KISS FM, Jammin' 105, and iHeartMedia Inc. Since 2017, he held the coveted 10p-12a timeslot on iSoulRadio.com, captivating listeners on Friday and Saturday nights.

Johnny was more than just his job. He was a friend to many, a confidante to some, and a legend to all. Beyond his work, he was a proud alumnus of Queensborough and completed his education at Andrew Jackson High School. In addition to his own successful career, Johnny also paved the way for aspiring radio jocks through his Broadcast School in NYC.

There's a certain enchantment that comes with radio personalities, don't you think? And Johnny Allen was no exception. He left behind a significant legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
