THANDIANI - One of Pakistan’s Most Underrated Destination

This video documents our full 3-day bike tour to Thandiani, a peaceful and lesser-explored mountain destination located near Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This was not just any bike trip—it was the first officially sponsored bike tour of KPK, organized by Peshawar Bikers and proudly sponsored by KPTCA (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture & Tourism Authority).

The journey began from Swabi, where I joined the Peshawar Bikers team. From there, we rode through Sirikot, a stunning area with green and dry hills, winding roads, and incredible views. After a short break, we moved towards Haripur and Abbottabad, and as we gained altitude, we felt a drastic change in weather—from 45°C heat to cool breezes and a sky slowly filling with dark clouds. We knew rain might hit us anytime, but the excitement of reaching Thandiani kept us going.

On the way to the top, we stopped at a historic and spiritual spot called Kala Pani—a place known for its cold water stream and a powerful story about a farmer’s prayer during Ramadan. This part of the trip reminded us of the deeper connection between nature, faith, and the land we ride through.

Once we reached Thandiani Top, the weather had completely changed. Cold winds, light rain, and the calmness of the forest welcomed us. We pitched our tents, stayed in our bike gear due to the cold, and ended the evening with hot food, a bonfire, music, and laughter among friends. It was simple but meaningful.

A big part of this trip’s success was the camping pods arranged by KPTCA. These pods were clean, warm, and well-maintained. There are 8 pods with 2 beds each and 3 pods with 4 beds, making it suitable for solo travelers, groups, or even families. Each pod comes with proper beds, clean washrooms, and a self-cooking kitchen, providing a comfortable stay in the middle of the mountains.

Despite being in a remote location, the road to Thandiani is in good enough condition that almost any car can reach the top. It’s not just for bikers—families can also enjoy this peaceful destination without much difficulty.

Another important moment was the presence of the KPTCA team, who not only sponsored the event but also joined us on-site. They actively participated in plantation and cleanup activities, encouraging all of us to take better care of the natural beauty we enjoy. Their involvement showed that tourism and responsibility can go hand in hand.

Throughout the three days, this tour gave us much more than just views and roads. It gave us stories, friendships, peace of mind, and a strong reminder of the beauty that exists right in our own province.
