In early 1946, the Northeast People's Liberation Army annihilated the Kuomintang "Qianliju" division in one fell swoop and captured a number of general-level officers. Song Zhigang, an instructor of a certain company, was ordered to lead a platoon to escort prisoners of war through the border between the enemy and us to the garrison of the Liaodong Military Region.
