Remember the long service of the lift bridge on the La Salle Causeway watching it rise and fall in a full cycle. A tragic incident on the afternoon of March 30th, 2024 brought the end of 107 years of unbroken service by the Strauss-designed Heel Trunnion Bascule Lift Bridge. This video shows the full cycle of raising and lowering the bridge - and a pretty sailboat, Mimi Jane. The bridge should be honoured as an engineering marvel and a Kingston landmark.
