Past and Future of Ionizing Radiation Metrology | CCRI Workshop at the BIPM (2025)

In November 2025, experts from around the world gathered at the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) for the “Past and Future of Ionizing Radiation Metrology” workshop, organised under the Consultative Committee for Ionizing Radiation (CCRI).

Held during the BIPM’s 150th anniversary year, the workshop also marked two major milestones in the field:
➡️ 65 years of the BIPM’s Ionizing Radiation Department
➡️ 130 years since Wilhelm Röntgen’s discovery of X-rays

More than 200 specialists took part (55 on site and 152 online), reflecting the global importance of ionizing radiation metrology for medicine, environmental monitoring, radiation protection, nuclear science and emerging technologies.
