Experience from Our Bus Journey After Trichy – A Word of Caution

After boarding the bus and traveling nearly 17 km from Trichy, we approached the conductor to purchase our tickets. He initially told us to wait and that he would come to us. However, when it was finally time to issue the ticket, he unexpectedly demanded extra charges for our luggage.
We were surprised and informed him that we had traveled across almost all of Tamil Nadu by bus, and not once were we asked to pay extra for luggage. Moreover, raising this issue after the journey had already begun and we were on the highway seemed completely unfair.
We stood our ground and refused to pay any extra amount. Interestingly, the conductor ended up not taking any money from us—not even for the tickets. At the next bus stop, he called the bus inspection officers and handed the matter over to them.
We calmly shared our side of the story with the inspectors. After around 20 minutes of discussion, they understood and agreed with our point of view. In the end, we didn’t have to pay any additional charges.

Moral of the story: Always be aware of your rights as a traveler. Not every demand made during your journey may be valid.
