A solo fingerstyle instrumental version of Paul McCartney's classic tune, Blackbird.
It seems like everyone's done an arrangement of this tune, but I hope there's room for one more. After hearing a friend do an arrangement that tried to stick as closely as possible to McCartney's original guitar part throughout, I decided to try a different approach, focusing more on the melody of the song, and incorporating some jazzier chord voicings where possible. Although they had little direct impact on my eventual arrangement, Bobby McFerrin's vocal version as well as Jacob Collier's take on the song provided some inspiration by showing that it was possible to break out a bit from the original.
I'm playing on a Schoenberg OOO12C built by Bruce Sexauer, in standard tuning in the original key of G. Recorded with a pair of Schoeps CMC641 mics, into a Sound Devices recorder.
