A kindergarten child requires intangible tools to excel a language not the tangible tools exactly. Tangible tools may be modified or customised but intangible tools are mandatory for kids to learn phonics.
1. Focuses on the relationship between sounds and letters. Involves using letter-sound correspondence to teach readers how to decode and read words.
2. Eg, a child learning to read might be taught to recognize that the letter "t" represents the sound /t/, and that combining it with the letter "a" creates the sound /at/.

4. English phonics does not use true phonetics because english spelling is not rational (i.e., it is not consistent given that an english alphabetic letter can be symbolically tied to more than a single sound
5. Apart from teaching the sounds of individual letters, it also includes identification of sounds produced by combination of letters like ‘sh’ or ‘oo’.
6. It helps young children to learn how to read. Children start recognizing the sound of each individual letter, and thus are able to develop their reading skills. Individual sounds are taught which are used for making words. For example, when the sounds associated with letters t, p and a are taught, the children can easily build the word tap.
7. When taught in an organized and structured way, it leads to a very effective way of teaching young children to read.
8. Phonics comprises of three most important pillars.
a) Knowing correct sounds
b) Knowing spelling rules
c) Correct blending techniques
