It was 04:00 on the 21st January 2013, not unusually for me, I was up late editing video, when I went to look out of the window and was amazed at the deep thick covering of snow that I saw. It had been snowing on and off for a few days and there was a thin covering, but it then began snowing the night before at 20:00 and didn't stop, with a strong Easterly breeze this resulted in drifts up to a foot deep, and flat coverings of around six inches.
I grabbed my snow boots, hat, gloves, hoodie, coat and camcorder and left the house at 04:00 to walk the deserted streets of Cookridge and film the magical snowscape that was developing around me. I began on Moseley Wood Drive, then walked along Green Lane, where I bumped into a resident local fox, and a stranded van driver who was making his way home on foot. I carried on to Cookridge Lane, and turned left up to Otley Old Road and beyond to Tinshill Recreation Ground behind the fire station. I filmed the ground, Cookridge Towers, passing motorists, a cyclist, gritters and lots of deep, deep snow.
I walked back and down Tinshill Drive, Kirkwood Way and Moseley Wood Drive. I managed to get some zoomed shots of Leeds Bradford Airport, before going home to warmth, breakfast and sleep. I hope you enjoy this video it was a pleasure to make, and lovely being so, so quiet out there.
