In this Green & Garb actual play of Daggerheart: Sablewood Messengers (Quick Start Adventure), we close out the Quick Start with an epic final battle and big roleplay payoffs. True to our style, we teach the rules as they come up—from Hope & Fear spending, to group attacks, to tag-team combos—so you can keep learning Daggerheart with us. The heroes defend the keystone ritual against skeleton hordes, wraiths, and a towering minotaur skeleton, then resolve their fates with the Whitefire Arcanist.
⚔️ Daggerheart Mechanics in this Episode
Movement & Ranges: Close, Very Close, Far movement explained in battle.
Guardian Features: Unstoppable (auto-reduce damage threshold), Whirlwind AoE cleave.
Spotlight Flow: Passing spotlight, chaining actions, Fear forcing GM moves.
Hope & Fear: Hope spent for rerolls, extra effects, & teamwork; GM Fear used to summon reinforcements, force group attacks, and spotlight adversaries.
Criticals & Damage Thresholds: Full + rolled damage; thresholds = HP loss tiers.
Group Attacks (Enemies): Multiple skeletons combine rolls & damage.
Armor Use: Burning armor slots to step damage down.
Stress Economy: Stress spent to regain spell tokens; risk of over-stress → vulnerability.
Conditions: Vulnerable from wraiths’ memory delve (advantage vs you).
Tag Team Mechanics: Players spend Hope to join actions, roll duality dice together, then combine damage.
Class Features:
Spellcasters: Chaos tokens, Parallel targeting, Rain of Blades, Primal Origin (double dice).
Warrior: No Mercy (+1 ongoing attack bonus).
Guardian: Damage soak + threshold reduction.
Helping Allies: Spending Hope to give advantage dice or narratively assist.
Potions & Healing: Drinking or forcing potions in combat to save allies.
