Video was recorded on Saturday June 5th, 2021. The car is a 2012 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8 (my mom's car). Spark plug old vs new comparison album (hard to get camera to focus on the electrode - sorry): https://drive.google.com/drive/folder...
Spark plugs looked great for 127,737 miles and 9 years...
Estimated time required to complete spark plug replacement AFTER you have gathered the tools is thirty minutes. Fifteen minutes to unscrew the negative terminal in the trunk of the car (10 mm), get the intake hose off (10 mm) and locking wire clips undone so you can adjust the position of the plenum. Fifteen minutes max to do all six spark plugs. Remember the clips to the ignition coils have a locking clip (black) that must be unlocked before you can push the tab inwards to remove the wire. The driver rear (closest to front windshield) spark plug is the hardest to access.
In theory, you do not need a 1/4" wrench and 3/8" wrench if your 5/8" spark plug socket matches your 10 mm six-point socket and 5 mm hex-key. The following are the tools that I personally used (I don't have a 5/8" spark plug socket for a 1/4" wrench):
1/4" wrench (folding head preferred, I used GearWrench's 120XP)
3/8" wrench (folding head preferred, I used GearWrench's 120XP here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BTEXUY4)
5 mm LONG hex key (3/8" - I used a Harbor Freight Icon set - YOU MUST USE A LONG HEX KEY OR EXTENDER)
5/8" spark plug socket (magnetic preferred) with 3/8" head (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...)
10 mm six-point socket (1/4" - I used a Harbor Freight Icon 1/4" DEEP six-point set, though I don't believe you need a DEEP socket)
3/8" drive extension (10" - Tekton item #SHA91005 https://www.tekton.com/3-8-inch-drive...)
1/4" drive extension (9" - Tekton item #SHA90004 https://www.tekton.com/1-4-inch-drive...)
Long needle-nose pliers (not branded for pulling out the screws above the plenum so they don't fall out while you are moving it around)
Small (hand-sized) locking pliers (not sure of brand) for unclipping the locking wire clips
NoCry magnetic pick-up tool in case you drop a screw for the 6 above the plenum (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D23M5R7/)
1/4" drive 20 - 200 inch lbs torque wrench (Tekton item #24320) https://www.tekton.com/1-4-inch-drive... - note that these torque ratings are in the middle of the range given:
14.45 foot lbs, or 173.4 inch lbs (round to 173 inch lbs) for the spark plug (5/8")
7.95 foot lbs, or 95.4 inch lbs (round to 95 inch lbs) for the ignition coil screw (10 mm)
1/4" drive (female) to 3/8" drive (male) adapter for 1/4" Torque wrench and 3/8" spark plug socket (Tekton item #SHA04101) https://www.tekton.com/1-4-inch-drive...
