Kawasaki Precision Machinery is one of the world's top manufacturers of hydraulic motors and pumps, producing many different variants. Quality and reliability are essential, and so automated visual inspection is crucial to the manufacturing process. The inspection process must ensure all the correct parts are present, from the pump case to the shaft and valve cover. Industrial Vision Systems created a bespoke inspection solution using six digital Gigabit Ethernet cameras. Lighting is an integral part of the system, using high intensity white LEDs combined with red LED ring lights. IVS machine vision software contains a wide range of standard inspection functions, making it applicable to any industry. The software determines whether all pump components are within tolerance, saves data and images, and communicates with line control.
