I’m delighted to release the first single, SEVEN, from my upcoming solo album ROOTS, dedicated to the United States I’d grown up in, paying tribute to the musical diversity of the 21st century American society. Releasing on all streaming services on January 6th, this album will feature three composers with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with : Andrea Casarrubios, Reena Esmail & Caroline Shaw, as well as two tracks inspired by folk and bluegrass music.

Regarding the first single, SEVEN by @andrea_casarrubios … It’s particularly hard to express what this music represents to me in a logical way, so I wrote a little something, a bit like a little short film in words :

Skyscrapers tower above barren avenues, concrete fault lines breathe in an air cleansed by silence. Dusk’s hazy glow slips through a window, a golden shaft of light disturbing the still-life inside. The beam stirs up the faintest flurry of dust in its wake, the ashes of time past and days lost drifting to their final rest on books unread. Like a distant daydream, a wind chime rings through this first spring of quarantine.
