Biography of Hannie Schaft: The 24-year-old Dutch Resistance Heroine (1920-1945)

Today, on May 4, the Netherlands holds its annual Remembrance of the Dead. We commemorate all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War. At 8 PM we observe two minutes of silence, in remembrance of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
