秋の層雲峡 Sounkyo in Autmun

層雲峡は大雪山国立公園に位置し、石狩川を挟み約24㎞の断崖絶壁が続く渓谷で、「大函」では高さ200ｍ前後の柱状節理の断崖を間近で観ることができる。「銀河の滝」「流星の滝」は国道39号線の銀河トンネルの出入口から旧道に入ったところに駐車場があり、そこから見上げることができる。「銀河の滝」は末広がりに流れ落ちる優雅さから「雌滝」とも呼ばれ、落差104ｍ、「流星の滝」は太い1本の線となって流れ落ちる力強さから「雄滝」とも呼ばれ、落差90ｍあり、二つの滝が並んでいることから「夫婦滝」の別名もある。層雲峡温泉街より「黒岳ロープウェイ」で黒岳5合目。標高1,300ｍまで登ることができ、そこから360°のパノラマを堪能できる。
Sounkyo is located within Daisetsuzan National Park, a gorge where sheer cliffs stretch for about 24 km along both sides of the Ishikari River. At “Oobako,” visitors can view columnar jointed cliffs, approximately 200 meters high, up close. Parking is available just off the old road near the entrance/exit of the Ginga Tunnel on National Route 39, offering a view looking up at “Ginga Falls” and “Ryusei Falls.” Ginga Falls has a drop of 104 meters, while Ryusei Falls has a drop of 90 meters. Because the two waterfalls stand side by side, they are also known by the alternative name “Couple Falls.(Meoto Falls.)”. From Sounkyo Hot Springs Town, take the “Kurodake Ropeway” to Kurodake 5th Station. It ascends to an elevation of 1,300m, where you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view.
