I gathered this 600lbs of useable tooling from HGR surplus, ebay, and craigslist between Sept 2020. and sept 2021, at a total cost of $3000.
I estimate, if I needed to purchase this same tooling all at once, the cost would be over $5000. Since the machine is for my home shop, I could wait for the best buys.
Often lathes are sold without tooling, but then again, often tooling that comes with an older machine is shot.
I picked out a running Axelson 14X30 from Yoder machine for $3200
skidding and shjpping was $1800, and tooling at $3000, I am right at $8000 for a tooled up, and running Axelson lathe.
On the Bostar collet chuck, the mounting plate is the same import back plate sold for mounting "8 standard 4 jaw chucks. By making an adapter ring, both the collet chuck, and the 8" 4 jaw chuck can share the same mounting plate. I also arranged for the milling machine dividing head to share these chucks also.
A big thanks to all that watch and subscribe, and a thanks to Lucinda Willberry for the camera work.
