Can Taiwanese read Simplified Chinese? Would it be easier for Taiwanese to read Simplified Chinese than Traditional Chinese? I gave my friend Ya-Chun, from Taipei, a Simplified Chinese reading quiz, which includes 5 words and 10 single Chinese characters (all in the simplified form). Without any hint from a context, would these isolated words and characters confuse Ya-Chun? [Because most Simplified-Chinese users can read Traditional-Chinese texts and vice versa, thanks to the contexts] Let's see how Ya-Chun did in the test!
