“I wrote this song about the first big argument you have with the person you know you want to spend the
rest of your life with.
For me personally, I was in Arizona making an album. They were back home in Texas. Life had slowly
started getting back to normal post quarantine. That meant for me, I had to hit the road again. Travel. Play shows.
Make albums. Do what I do for a living to put food on the table. Unfortunately, both of us had fallen in love the
second the world had shut down. We didn’t know what our relationship would be like in a “normal” environment.
So, the being gone put a strain on us to say the least. And one night we hung up on each other without saying
goodbye, which led us to both ask ourselves ‘Is this worth it?’ and the truth was, even in the hard times, it was
absolutely worth it.
So, I wrote the song in my hotel room that night; P.H. Naffah and I went back to the studio the next day;
and we tracked it. It was all done in two takes. One pass on guitar and vocals. One pass on the organ drone. Then
we sent it off to Nashville so the incomparable Stephanie Lambring could sing on it, which she did, causing it to be a
million times better. And that’s about it.
