Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is the direct sequel to the first film in the franchise. Released in theaters in December 2025, the film follows up on the previous success, bringing back important cast members such as Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard. This time, the story introduces the iconic Toy Animatronics and further deepens the series' mythology, with special emphasis on the Puppet.

Set about a year after the events of the first film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 follows Abby, Mike's sister, who, determined to find her mysterious animatronic "friends," ends up fleeing to a new pizzeria equipped with the gleaming Toy Animatronics. Her decision ends up reawakening the supernatural forces that haunted the place's past.

As old horrors return, the plot delves deeper into the origins of Freddy and the pizzeria, bringing the Puppet and the Withered animatronics as new threats, alongside figures already familiar to the audience. Matthew Lillard returns as William Afton through disturbing flashbacks, revealing even darker layers of the family's history and the nightmare that surrounds the franchise.
