Long ago, around 1998, a very good friend of mine made a tape for me with some tracks from a few bands he'd been listening to, some old, some new, that he wanted me to hear. Among the few tracks by Naglfar, Therion, Dimmu Borgir, and In Flames... which were awesome, was buried this gem of a tune.

I bought Nexus Polaris as soon as I could find it and you should too! It was my introduction to a more cosmic black metal. Interestingly, they are somewhat of a super-group consisting of current and former members of Dimmu Borgir, CoF (somewhat), Mayhem, and Arcturus... Hellhammer being in both the latter. Hellhammer is without a doubt the band's trump card here. His drumming is always brilliant and his work on this album is no exception. He's in my top 5 favs for drummers for a reason.

I've been meaning to do some blackmetal for a while. This is where it will start. It's hella fun to play and a real basher in places. Quite 'Maiden-y in others. What's not to like!?!?!?!?!
