Morpheús (2024) for English horn and string sextet by Matthew Hodge
In April 2024, Bill Parrish suggested that I write something for English horn and strings. This idea captured my imagination and a proceeded to begin work on what would become Morpheús for English horn and string sextet. Named after the Greek god of dreams from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Morpheús explores the passage from consciousness into sleep and dreams, and the gradual return to consciousness.
