Starlink Mini campervan install. full 12V DC to PoE setup with StarVMount. Vanlife internet upgrade with dual router switching: Kuma 4G & Starlink Slate AX router.
Vanlife and Overland Internet Upgrade
Testing the Starlink Mini for the first time using a @Starvmount mounting kit (Made in Britain) and their 12V DC-to-PoE kit to save power, along with some basic networking with my GL.iNet Slate AX1800 router, allowing me to switch between my Kuma 4G router and Starlink.
The DC power kit takes 12V from your campervan’s leisure system and converts it to 48V DC. A PoE injector is then used to combine power and internet into a single cable, which means you only need to run one cable up to the roof. Running the Starlink Mini directly on DC avoids efficiency losses from AC conversion and eliminates standby inverter power draw.
The Starlink Mini can technically run natively on 12V, but there are limitations due to a significant voltage drop from the thin power cable. especially over longer distances.
