An iconoclast to the core, R.D.Burman, broke the set patterns of traditional film music and set new parameters for others to follow. His experimentation was seen in so many different spheres of his music making. The more he aged, the more experimental he was. Here I have picked up some examples to elucidate how he composed interludes of unequal length and how this actually opened scopes for him to experiment more with newer patterns and innovative use of musical experiments. Studying the music of R.D.Burman is always a pleasure. I was largely benefited from my experiences of attending shows of Euphony and coming across the legendary musicians and associates.
