The BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 - 4.7 l / 100 km; combined CO 2 emissions: 128 - 123 g / km), BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 - 5.0 l / 100 km; CO 2 emissions combined: 138 - 133 g / km), BMW 730Ld (fuel consumption combined: 5.0 - 4.8 l / 100 km; CO 2 emissions combined: 130 - 126 g / km) , BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.3 - 5.1 l / 100 km; CO 2Emissions combined: 139-133 g / km) impresses with an output increased by 15 kW / 21 PS to 210 kW / 286 PS and a maximum torque increased by 30 to 650 Nm, which is already between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm -1 is available. The particularly spontaneous power delivery results from the further developed BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, which now includes a two-stage charging system with variable input geometry for the low-pressure stage. The common rail direct injection, which has also been optimized, now delivers the fuel into the combustion chambers at a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.
The increase in strength helps the luxury sedans in particular to increase their speed. For example, the BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive achieve a value for acceleration from zero to 100 km / h, which is improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively. The increased temperament is accompanied by a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 0.6 liters per 100 kilometers.
Both new drives have exhaust gas aftertreatment, the components of which close to the engine consist of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For an optimal reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions (NO X ), a second metering unit is also integrated at the output of the SCR system close to the engine. The models of the BMW 7 Series, powered by the new in-line six-cylinder diesel engines, thus meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.
Mercedes S-Class
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has become more intelligent in many areas, and the driving experience reaches new heights. The digital innovations in e.g. MBUX[1] include new features that make driving even more enjoyable and even safer: among them are rear-axle steering with a large steering angle and safety innovations such as the rear airbag. Furthermore – as a new function of PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side – the vehicle body can be raised just before a side impact thanks to the active E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL suspension. Following systematic further development, the driving assistance systems are a further step towards autonomous driving. Thanks to improved environmental sensors, for example, the parking systems give the driver even better support when manoeuvring at low speed. While visualisation reaches new levels by virtue of integration into the intuitive operation of MBUX.
The activation keyword "Hey Mercedes" is no longer necessary for certain applications. An incoming call can be taken directly with "Accept call", for example.
In the S-Class, "Hey Mercedes" can also be controlled from the rear. Several microphones help to tell the system which seat the voice is coming from. The active ambient lighting flashes at this position and identifies the current speaker.
"Hey Mercedes" now also explains vehicle functions, and can e.g. help when asked how to connect a smartphone by Bluetooth or where the first-aid kit can be found. The new Chit-Chat and knowledge domain provides the right answers to many questions, and even questions about buildings in the immediate vicinity, animal noises or general knowledge are answered.
"Hey Mercedes" is now also able to recognise vehicle occupants by their voices. Once the individual characteristics of the voice have been learned, this can be used to activate a profile. This makes personal data and functions accessible to the user. Voice recognition is in real time, using a special authentication process.
Modern luxury attains the next level in the interior of the S-Class. The designers have created a feel-good ambience with lounge character marked by elegance, high quality and lightness. The dashboard with its new architecture, modern surface design and ergonomic display arrangement is a particular highlight. The aim and ambition of the Mercedes-Benz interior designers was to harmonise digital and analogue luxury in the vehicle interior.
With a short front overhang, a long wheelbase and a balanced rear overhang, the S-Class is designed as a classical saloon with perfect proportions. Other unmistakable exterior features include the stretched bonnet, the upright front end with the mounted star, the long passenger cell and the flowing C-pillar with its sculptured shoulder.
