Mud Slide on the Appalachian Trail

It was Going Down In the Smokies on the Appalachian Trail, just before Mollies Ridge Shelter. As I slopped through the normal wet and muddy conditions of the trail, I slipped and went Down in a Blaze of Glory.

On my 2024 NO Experience and NO Plan Thru Hike of the AT, this was a Classic move for me. I fell almost every day on this hike… and somehow still finished all this monumental journey; earning the Trail-Name “Wingit”.

Proof that you don’t need to be good at hiking to love it—and finish it.
