EFT - Exploring Pursuer & Withdrawer Interactional Positions - Sandra Taylor, EFT Trainer

Emotionally Focused Therapy theory session held 21st May 2020 with Sandra Taylor, PhD, EFT Trainer.
In this 110 minute video I explore some of the lesser known aspects of the pursuer and withdrawer, for example:- what are they?, why is the EFT therapist bothered about them?, aren't they rather simplistic and negative?, how does the attachment base of EFT support us working with pursuers and withdrawers? what types of cycle are there? how do we differentiate pursuer and withdrawer when it isn't straightforward and why do we bother? how do we work differently with those in the pursuer position and those in the withdrawer position? what are the mini theories of blamer softening and withdrawer re-engagement and what are their similarities and differences?

This is the second of 3 theory groups to be led by Sandra Taylor. There will also be 3 practice groups led by Helene Igwebuike, EFT Trainer, and 3 reading groups led by Sarah McConnell, EFT supervisor. Together we form the DMT of BEFT - the Decision Making Team of the British EFT Centre. We wanted to offer some free learning groups for our members and for those whose training with Helene and I has been impacted by covid-19. We also offer them here for anyone else interested in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
