How to Make Damascus Steel Pt. 2: Ladder Pattern

This video is the second in an ongoing series in which knifemaker Walter Sorrells demonstrates how to make Damascus steel. Damascus steel -- also known as "pattern welded" steel -- is a type of steel used by knifemakers in which dissimilar steels are combined to create visible patterns in the steel. Ladder pattern is one of the most basic types of pattern welded steel and is also attractive and versatile. Ladder pattern damascus features a regular, wavelike pattern in the steel.
