Horseshoe Canyon is a stunning U-shaped canyon located near Drumheller, Alberta. It's a fantastic spot to experience the beauty of the Canadian Badlands, with its maroon-striped rock formations that date back to the Cretaceous period, around 70 million years ago.

Today I am in the Canadian Badlands, at Horseshoe Canyon, located about 17 km west of Drumheller Alberta. I did this hike August, on a hot summer day, 28 degrees Celsius. There is a 2.9 km loop trail here, but once you get into the canyon, you can pretty much explore anywhere. I spent the afternoon here. Once in the canyon the maroon-striped walls reveal the layers of time, down to the Cretaceous period, some 70 million years ago.
