SHANTI (Season-2) has been dedicated to Tabla Maestro Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, who was an integral part of our foundation. His untimely demise has left all of us in a huge state of shock.

The 1st episode was Midnight Raagas and our 2nd performer of the night was a vocal recital by Atri Kotal, accompanied on the tabla by Shri Sandip Ghosh & on the harmonium by Shri Jyotirmoy Banerjee.

A disciple of Shri Deborshee Bhattacharjee, Atri also gets
regular training from Padmabhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty in
special classes of Thumri as well as Raga music . Introduced
to Hindustani classical music early in her childhood by mother
Smt Ratna Kotal, following which she started to take classes
from Vidushi Mandira Lahiri. Thereafter she was trained by
Late Pt Biresh Roy and Ustad Jainul Abedin.

A National Scholar from Ministry of Culture and a Graded Artist of
All India Radio, Atri has performed in many prestigious stages all across India including Uttarpara Sangeet Chakra, VSK Baithak (Delhi), Dover Lane Annual Music Conference (69th edition) to name a few.

In his mid thirties, Sandip Ghosh is a known name in the music fraternity.Started at the age of Six under Pt. Gobindo Bose, Sandip has long association of more than 20 years with legendary Tabla Wizard Pt. Anindo Chatterjee in Guru Shishya Parampara. Beside his Tabla Gurus, he has got the rare opportunity to get Vid. Kaushiki Chakraborty as his mentor for more than a decade,and Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty as a Guru for overall guidance about accompaniment. He is undoubtedly one of the most sought after tabla artists of our country.

Jyotirmoy Banerjee is one of the finest harmonium exponents of the present generation. A student of vocal music under his Guru Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, he has nurtured himself to become extremely accomplished in the art of harmonium playing.
