Bus Observations of Georgia (October 2025)

A trip down to the Deep South where I find myself in the state of Georgia. The first city is Columbus where clips of METRA serving their transfer center/maintenance facility at 9th Ave & 15th St, northeast of Downtown. Afterwards, a night recording session in the city of Macon. The Harriet Tubman Museum and Georgia Sports Hall of Fame are located within the vicinity of the rail terminal. Lastly, we wrap-up in college town of Athens, home of the prominent SEC institution of 𝗨𝗚𝗔 (GO DAWGS!), where two transit agencies: Athens-Clarke County Transit and Campus Transit for UGA serve the city and college respectively.
FYI, the Orion bus(es) are still in service for UGA but, unfortunately, the day I recorded in Athens was a Saturday afternoon as service was on a its regular Weekend schedule -- and the 𝑩𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒅𝒐𝒈𝒔 were playing in Auburn on Saturday Night, so no supplemental gameday service were to be present to increase those odds to see more buses -- and I had to maintain a schedule for this trip. Had I went ahead and drove into Athens by midnight, I would have had the chance to record & ride onboard an Orion VII during the late-night service. Needlessly to say, I probably miss my last opportunity to ride the last remaining UGA Orion(s) as the New Flyer XEs are due to replace them entirely (as seen in the video).
