The Punjab Government started a new project namely Green Pakistan Initiative to irrigate its Cholistan desert. The new six canals will take off from the Indus and to carry water toward different parts of Punjab particularly Cholistan desert. However, Sindh has opposed the project as it will further cause water shortage In Sindh.
