A Stray Dog Started Following Us… Then Our Wild Camp in Türkiye Turned Scary 😨🐾

While walking the Black Sea coast of Türkiye, something unexpected happened - a stray dog started following us… and never stopped. Meet Clyde, our new furry travel companion 🐶 He’s walked with us for three days now and already feels like part of the team.

That night, the three of us wild camped at a quiet fishing port. There was a camping café but it was closed when we arrived. In true Turkish hospitality, the owner invited us for breakfast the next morning and we shared çay and a simple but delicious meal.

Next, we attempted one of our wildest wild camping spots yet - a remote beach we reached by scrambling down a steep, sketchy cliff. It was stunning… until nightfall.

In the pitch black, a man appeared in the distance wearing a headtorch and shouting in Turkish. There was only one way in and out, and it was right by us. Our dog Clyde went crazy. We were on full alert, knives and bear spray in hand trying to figure out who he was. He vanished into the night, and we never heard him again. I barely slept. Luke stayed up until sunrise, with Clyde keeping guard by our side. 🐾

This was one of the most intense nights we’ve had while wild camping and a reminder that the road less travelled can be as thrilling as it is beautiful.
