WinQeilidh is Winchester's only in-town ceilidh. Why the Q? Queer ceilidhs are gender-free, intentionally role-free, and welcome everybody! Follow us on Instagram @winqeilidh or find us on Facebook. We dance once a month from September to June, and we always have live music.
This dance was published by John Playford in London in 1651; the tune is a traditional American (Appalachian) one. The musicians are Linda Game (fiddle), Ali Messer (accordion), Patrice Aggs (double bass), Chris Aggs (guitar), and Tim Brewis (cajon). The dance was called by Louise Siddons (although there's precious little calling in the video!).
Filmed at our regular dance on 30 May 2025.
