Blood In Blood Out / La Onda

Hello, Scenesters. For Dia De Los Muertos we will be discussing the Chicano masterpiece "Blood In Blood Out" and it's concept of La Onda or destiny.

Speaking just as Justin for a bit, I grew up watching this movie and always wanted to cover it but never knew where to start. Watching it again more recently, it's themes of how our struggles shape who we are was made more more apparent to me.

To me, La Onda is when a person's experiences, personality and talents come together in harmony to give a person purpose, mastery and ownership of their lives. Let's explore this classic together and see if you agree with some of my more nuanced view of our main characters Miklo, Paco, and Cruz.
