Background:

Argentine violinist, composer, and band leader Juan D’arienzo (Dec 14, 1900 – Jan 14, 1976) known by 'El Rey del Compás’ (The Rhythm King) said… ‘Tango, for me, has three elements: beat, impact, and nuances’. I hope that to some extent this piece had achieved that purpose.

This composition was envisioned at the beginning of 2022, and It took to mid-2023 to materialize. The process which involved numerous corrections, Norberto in Argentina, Daniel in Canada, and myself in the UK became a ‘deadly triangle in the middle of a storm’ where ‘trial and error’ became an almost daily routine. By being thousands of kilometers apart, made the work more complicated.

Nevertheless the ‘Tango’ makes its appearance at the ‘core center point’ alongside different musical influences, each section has its own dynamics and captures different moods.

After this experience, I realized that when we embark on something new, no matter how prepared we might think we are, nothing is straightforward, chances are we will encounter situations we never thought of.

The ‘road of life’ ("CAMINOS") has its turns and deviations and when you least expect, it finds you back where it all began, starting all over again.

Spanish born Poet Antonio Machado wrote …‘caminante no hay camino, se hace camino al andar’.

“….walker, there is no path, the path is made by walking…..”
