Which ultralight tent is best in bad weather? The hexpeak v4a and the lanshan 2 are very different tents in terms of design and build quality. But both have their strengths and their weaknesses - which becomes very apparent when you pitch them on less than ideal ground in strong winds and heavy rain.

The weather forecast was predicting stormy conditions - so I thought it would be an interesting day to test my luxe hexpeak v4a tipi tent against the ultralight 3f ul gear lanshan 2. My main aim was to find out which tent I'd trust more for wildcamping in inclement conditions or for sudden changes in weather whilst on the mountains with my dog.

As you can see in my other videos, wild camping can go very wrong and it's in those moments that you need to know that your camping equipment can handle difficult conditions and keep you safe.

This test was designed to a) see how the tents handle the rough conditions and b) how they compare to each other. I’d fully recommend that you try something similar with your kit; learn its strengths, weaknesses and limitations in a safe location so that you are prepared for any sudden changes in the weather or mistakes made in the field.
