Bach's “Inventions” are thought to have been composed as a guide for his apprentice practice pieces and compositional techniques.
In No. 1 (BWV 772), the themes “C-D-E-F-D-E-C” and “G-C-H-C” are developed using various imitation techniques.
This variation used the opening "G-F-E-D-E-F-D" and the middle "E - F - G - E" of "Summ Summ Summ" as its theme, and I developed them using retrograde form, augmentation, transition and double counterpoint following the original.
Almost the entire piece is an imitation of the theme, so I hope you will listen while thinking about which techniques are used where.

I will perform 100 variations of a folk song "SUMM SUMM SUMM" beloved the world over.
I have long wanted to create artwork based on a little moving moments or things I find interesting in daily life.
As part of this, I was inspired to rediscover and reconstruct the vivid musical changes through arrangements, the diversity of music, and the attraction of masterpieces, and so I decided to perform 100 variations.
However, in this world where the decimal system reigns supreme, 100 is an important milestone, therefore I have set 100 variations as my immediate goal.
I would be pleased if you simply enjoy the music, and I would be extremely grateful if this video becomes a gateway to your intellectual curiosity.
