When it comes to recycling, how we communicate can have a significant impact on people’s participation. Messages that focus on the consequences of inaction are common, but they are not as impactful as messages of empowerment. In her talk, Jeannine Bartz shares the findings of her research, which reveals the importance of three key messages when it comes to communicating about recycling. Ultimately, when we all focus on what we can do, together we can have a tremendous collective impact.
Jeannine is a marketing and communications advisor who helps facilitate societally positive behaviour change. Using data to improve communication with the public, she helps close the gap between people’s good intentions and their actions. With an optimistic outlook, Jeannine believes each person’s individual actions have the ability to contribute to positive large scale shifts in society.
