At the beginning of every year, Derrick and I talk about the roller coasters that are set to open in the upcoming season and come up with a list of parks that we want to make sure we visit. (After all, we are roller coaster enthusiasts - it's what we do.)

What coaster was at the very top of BOTH of our lists for 2025?
ALPENFURY.

Believe it or not: we've never been to Canada's Wonderland - despite it being only a few hours to our north (it's just a little bit further than a trip to Kings Island for us!) But here's the tricky part: we need passports in order to visit Canada's Wonderland, so that's always been what held us back.

BUT, when AlpenFury was announced, we decided it was time to get our passports. So, we went through the paperwork, the appointments, the photos, and successfully got our passports (international amusement parks - here we come!)

We had been anxiously watching construction updates and keeping tabs on AlpenFury - we even planned a visit the first weekend of July (booked hotels and everything). But as we got closer and closer, we realized, the roller coaster was not going to be open, so we pulled the plug and put all of our plans on hold.

THEN, on July 17, Canada's Wonderland dropped a bomb on us and announced that AlpenFury would open in less than 48 hours! We scrambled, brainstormed, said: could we leave TONIGHT? And decided: YES! So, we packed up and headed out! (It is officially is the most spontaneous trip we have EVER taken!)

So, we spent our Day 1 at Canada's Wonderland simply enjoying the park and waterpark (without the pressure of AlpenFury).
And then we were back for Day 2: AlpenFury's OPENING DAY (we've never been at a park on a roller coaster's official opening day! How fun!) We bought FastLane+ passes for that day, so we got two rides on this record breaking roller coaster (and I got a roll-back - WOW).
We went back for Day 3, intending to only spend a few hours in the park - hoping to pick up a few more credits, but instead got completely rained out and the day turned into a huge bust.

Overall, we loved Canada's Wonderland and even though we spent 3 days in the park, we feel like we barely scratched the surface - in other words, we'll definitely be back!
