名古屋市中村区にある豊国神社と中村公園を歩きました。

豊国神社は、豊臣秀吉公を祭神とする神社です。明治時代に秀吉公の功績を称える機運が高まり、明治天皇の勅許（ちょっきょ）を得て、全国で最初の「豊国神社」として建立されたのが始まりとされています。秀吉公は農民の出から天下人にまで上り詰めた人物であることから、その人生になぞらえ、出世開運や勝運成就など、運気上昇のご利益がある神社として知られています。

2026年には大河ドラマ『豊臣兄弟！』の放送も控えており、豊臣秀吉公と豊臣秀長公ゆかりの地である豊国神社と中村公園には、より多くの人々が訪れて賑わうことが期待されます。毎年1月の「初えびす」や9月の「豊国まつり」など、地元に根付いた伝統行事としても親しまれています。

実際に歩いてみた印象としては、公園内がとても整えられており、瓢箪池など緑豊かな憩いの場と、遊具が設置された子ども向けエリアがきちんと分けられていて、それぞれの目的に応じて楽しめる点が魅力的だと感じました。

また、中村公園内には中村公園記念館や初代中村勘三郎生誕記念像、大正天皇お手植えの松など、さまざまな見どころがあります。コンパクトながら見応えがあり、完成度の高い公園だという印象を受けました。

さらに、周辺には中村文化小劇場や名古屋競輪場、そして常泉寺（山号：太閤山）などもあり、これらを巡りながら散歩すると、半日ほどたっぷり楽しめる場所だと思いました。

I took a walk around Toyokuni Shrine and Nakamura Park in Nakamura Ward, Nagoya City.

Toyokuni Shrine is dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. During the Meiji era, enthusiasm grew to honor Hideyoshi’s great achievements, and with the imperial approval of Emperor Meiji, this shrine was established as the very first “Toyokuni Shrine” in Japan. Since Hideyoshi rose from humble farmer origins to become the ruler of the nation, the shrine is believed to bring blessings of success, good fortune, and victory in life—symbolizing his remarkable rise.

In 2026, the upcoming NHK historical drama “Toyotomi Brothers!” will be aired, and it is expected that Toyokuni Shrine and Nakamura Park—both deeply associated with Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his brother Toyotomi Hidenaga—will attract many more visitors. The shrine is also well known for local traditional events such as the “Hatsu Ebisu” in January and the “Toyokuni Festival” in September.

Walking through the park, I found it beautifully maintained. The park is divided into relaxing green areas such as Hyotan Pond and separate playground spaces for children, making it enjoyable for people with different purposes.

Within Nakamura Park, you can also find the Nakamura Park Memorial Hall, a statue commemorating the first Nakamura Kanzaburo, and a pine tree planted by Emperor Taisho. Although compact in size, the park is filled with attractions and feels very well designed.

Nearby, there are also cultural and historical spots such as the Nakamura Bunka Small Theater, the Nagoya Keirin Velodrome, and Josenji Temple (Mount Taiko). Walking around these surrounding sites together with the park makes for a pleasant half-day stroll.
