Migos – Bad and Boujee (1960s California Surf-Rock Edit)
The trap house just moved to Malibu.
That icy piano loop and 808s? Gone. Replaced by reverb-soaked Fender guitars doing the “Wipe Out” tremble, crashing drum fills that sound like waves on Huntington Beach, and a bouncy upright bass walking faster than a longboard on a six-foot swell.
Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff trade verses in crisp three-part Beach Boys harmonies mixed with Jan & Dean sunshine pop energy. Every “raindrop, drop top” comes in bright falsetto like they’re harmonizing under the pier, and the “my bitch is bad and boujee” hook hits like the whole surf crew shouting it from the nose of the board.
You can almost smell the coconut oil and bonfire smoke. The breakdown? Pure handclap and whistle party while seagulls loop in the background and a vintage woodie rolls by with boards on the roof.
This is what played on transistor radios in ’64 when the real bad boys wore baggies instead of balaclavas and still pulled the baddest girls on the beach.
Hang ten, turn it up, and let the sunshine in. ☁️9
