प्रभात अनकवर्ड की इस फेहरिस्त में रिपोर्ट झारखंड के पश्चिमी सिंहभूम जिले के माईलपीड़ गाँव के एक सरकारी स्कूल की है. इस रिपोर्ट में हम समझेंगे एक शिक्षक और उनके 54 छात्रों का संघर्ष. गाँव में स्कूल तक जाने के लिए सड़क नहीं है, जिसके कारण शिक्षक को रोज़ 4-5 किलोमीटर पैदल चलना पड़ता है. स्कूल की पक्की इमारत नहीं है; बच्चे टीन के शेड के नीचे पढ़ने को मजबूर हैं, जहाँ बिजली के करंट का खतरा है.
एक तरफ सरकारी आंकड़े (UDISE+) दावा करते हैं कि लगभग 99% स्कूलों में पानी और शौचालय है, वहीं माईलपीड़ की हकीकत यह है कि बच्चे जिस नदी में बर्तन धोते हैं, उसी नदी से पानी पीते हैं. Gutter जैसा पानी पीने को मजबूर बच्चे. मिड-डे मील के नाम पर बच्चों को सिर्फ हल्दी-नमक वाला खाना मिल रहा है. मोबाइल टावर तो पहुँच गया है, लेकिन बुनियादी ज़रूरतें आज भी एक सपना हैं.

In this edition of Prabhat Uncovered, we bring you a ground report from a government school in Mailpir village, located in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. In this report, we witness the harrowing struggle of one teacher and his 54 students.

Due to the complete lack of road connectivity to the village, the teacher is forced to walk 4–5 kilometres every day just to reach the school. The school lacks a permanent building; instead, children are forced to study under a tin shed, where the constant threat of electric shock looms over them.

While official government data (UDISE+) claims that nearly 99% of schools have access to water and toilets, the ground reality in Mailpir is devastating. Students are forced to drink water from the same river where they wash their utensils. Children forced to drink gutter-like water. Furthermore, under the Mid-Day Meal scheme, these children are being served nothing more than rice with turmeric and salt. Ironically, while a mobile tower has reached the village, basic human necessities remain a distant dream.
