Juli was born in 1972 and grew up in Malaysia. She went to Colorado at 19 to study and grew more westernized. By her 20s to 30s she stopped praying, started drinking alcohol but still believed in God in general, albeit a kinder version. She started reading about other religions, becoming more agnostic, and then in 2005, after going for small pilgrimage in Mecca, she became an atheist. She has since left her country, married her American boyfriend, and currently living in Boston. Her husband is an ex-catholic atheist, and their lives are pretty much free from religion.
