On 4 May 1945 at Lüneburg Heath, near Hamburg, Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery accepted the unconditional surrender of the German forces, preceding the end of World War II in Europe. Filmed through a hole in the canvas, by cameraman Paul Wyand, the surrender was signed in a twenty foot squared tent at Montgomery's headquarters.
This clip of the Germans' surrender also features a statement from Montgomery, to the camera, congratulating the Allied nations and remembering those who had fallen.
